We Regrew Lettuce From the Stump — Did It Produce Enough to Be Worth It?

regrowing lettuce from scraps
A leftover romaine stump can produce fresh new leaves when placed in shallow water, but don’t expect another full-size head. Think of the regrowth as free bonus lettuce from something you would have thrown away. Mehriban A/Shutterstock

You’ve probably seen the kitchen hack: instead of throwing away the bottom of a head of romaine lettuce, put it in water and supposedly grow yourself more lettuce for free.
