'We're saying that now' - Fabinho reveals what Liverpool players are talking about in dressing room

Fabinho has admitted that every game for Liverpool now will be treated like a final as the Reds go in pursuit of a historic quadruple. Having won the Carabao Cup, the Reds are one point behind in the race for the Premier League, face a Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday and a semi-final in the FA Cup to come.

Liverpool briefly moved to the top of the Premier League on Saturday afternoon after beating Watford 2-0 at Anfield thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Fabinho smashed home a penalty late on to secure the three points. City soon regained top spot with a victory at Burnley.

The Reds face off against City on Sunday at the Etihad in a match that could have a huge factor as to where the Premier League ends up in May.

Fabinho told Canal+ after the Watford win: "In the dressing room we’re saying that now, we’re only playing finals. It’s always important to win. It always gives the team confidence. When we have a match like that, as we’ll see next weekend, it’s always important to confident, to be in our best form.

"And I think maybe the team is in our best form now. There’s still a match [against Benfica in the Champions League] before City and still days to prepare for that one. We’ll have to be on our best form, we’ll need intensity, concentration, because it’s not going to be easy.”

Fabinho is expected to return to the starting XI on Tuesday night as the Reds take on Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
