Fed-up residents have slammed plans for a new housing estate, claiming it will 'make lives miserable'.
Peel L&P have proposed to build 350 homes on land off Leigh Road, Boothstown, Salford, on a site they are calling ‘Alder Carr’. According to Richard O'Brien, design director for housebuilder Northstone, the homes will have the capability of being 90 to 95 per cent energy efficient, meaning a severely reduced electricity bill for these gasless homes.
But residents fear the estate, which would be opposite recently-opened tourist attraction RHS Bridgewater, will trigger overpopulated roads, schools and GP surgeries - with Salford councillor, Bob Clarke, claiming the area is already 'full up'. He said the estate was 'not wanted' by those living nearby, who he claimed were 'furious' at the plans.
