Sadly, the brutal war inflicted upon Ukraine isn’t restricted to spreading its misery among the human population alone.
Thousands of much-loved pets are being abandoned at the Ukrainian border because families fleeing the horrors of their besieged homeland don’t have the necessary paperwork for their cats and dogs (and anything else on four legs).
Some pets are even being left tied to lamp-posts as their owners depart in the hope of finding a better life away from the hell-hole that their country has become.
