Two friends rushed into a burning building in Cardiff earlier today (Monday, March 14) to help evacuate residents from the blaze.
Fire broke out at the large property in Oakfield Road in Roath at around midday when flames were seen emerging from the roof, causing "mini explosions" which sent slates flying into the air.
Self-employed builder Kyle Jones and friend David Morgan had been helping another friend move into the address next door when the pair came back out and heard a "crackling" sound.

"It sounded like builders knocking tiles off the building. We looked and the tiles were just blowing off the roof, " said Kyle. "People were standing around and myself and my friend ran in and started kicking the doors down. We just started screaming to everyone to get out. There was panic."
Caught on mobile phone, the two men rushed around the different floors making sure everyone was safely cleared - one resident had even managed to sleep through all the commotion and had to be woken up.
"You could feel the heat even from outside, it was pretty immense," added Kyle, who was eventually helped by a few other passers-by. We got the people out in about a minute and once the place was all clear we waited outside for the fire service to arrive."
Kyle, who admitted to unsuccessfully applying for a job as a firefighter earlier this year, said: "We were a bit shocked, like 'should we be doing this'?, but it's all in a day's work I suppose. You try and do what you can - fortunately no-one died or got hurt."
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At approximately 12:19pm on Monday, the 14th of March, 2022, we received reports of a fire at a property in Oakfield Street in Roath, Cardiff.
"Resources from Cardiff Central, Roath, Whitchurch and Maindee Stations were in attendance. Crews worked alongside emergency service colleagues to tackle the fire and make the area safe."
