I have watched so much Call the Midwife over its many seasons I believe that, in an emergency, I could theoretically deliver a baby myself. Helen George, who has played professional midwife Trixie since 2012, is under no such illusions.
“Absolutely not, because I'm just an actress pretending to be a midwife,” she says, firmly. “But I think anybody in that situation, if they had to step in and deliver a baby, they would.”
