We can 'fall in love' with Rebel Wilson's kitchen color combination time and time again – experts explain why

Rebel Wilson.

Choosing a color palette that's as timeless as it is bold and good-looking isn't easy, but one combination continues to make it achievable – and it comes in the form of black-and-white.

Though (somewhat) safe, this color pairing continues to impress top designers and celebrities alike, including Rebel Wilson, who shared her black and white kitchen via Instagram. The space, comprising of matte black painted cabinets and white countertops, is simple but effortlessly chic – and it's a combination that, designers say, will allow us to 'fall in love' with our kitchens, time and time again.

Labeled by Daniel Bowler, the director of Eggersmann, as 'timelessly elegant,' this color combination can be dressed up – or down – in a variety of ways that are far from boring.

‘When thinking in black and white, let one color dominate, for example, sleek black furniture topped with a crisp white surface to make the room pop,' Bowler advises. Meanwhile, in small kitchens, we should flip the combination seen in Wilson's kitchen. 'Reverse this and let white take prominence to help keep things fresh and light, with an accent in black adding interest and detail,' he notes.

To keep her kitchen interesting, the actress decorated her space with abundant flowers atop her marble counters – while the tiled splashback adds further drama to the space. We, too, can follow suit by incorporating warmth and texture by introducing natural materials – whether through tiles and marble (like Wilson) or with wood – which is right on trend for 2024.

Wood furniture, a stone countertop, or brushed-effect brassware all ensure the kitchen has a welcoming and homely vibe while allowing you to add a nature-inspired statement,' Wilson says.

Similarly, we can enjoy the versatility of a monochromatic canvas by introducing pockets of vibrancy through accessories without worrying about a color clash.

'Don’t be afraid to introduce color. Keep the monochrome look alike while adding a burst of individuality with a bold, bright color in your choice of accessories,' Wilson explains. 'Introduce them sparingly, and you can update these whenever you want to create a whole new look in the kitchen to fall in love with it all over again.'
