We asked the Met Office when it's going to get warmer again in Wales

Only a week ago it felt like summer had arrived.

The t-shirts, sun cream and flip flops were out and everyone was enjoying the rays. Just days later there was snow in many parts of Wales and jumpers were back.

So, when will the warm weather be returning to Wales? To try and find out WalesOnline spoke to Met Office meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth to discover when the factor 30 can be reapplied.

When will the temperatures go up?

"So the temperatures are set to increase a little bit next week," said Ms Shuttleworth. "From Monday and Tuesday, we'll be back up into double figures across the across the UK and Wales. And that's the whole of Wales. So it will go back up to around average for the time of year. So it should be about 12-13 degrees. And we're seeing more like nine or 10 at the moment.

"It will feel a bit milder next week, however, that does come at the expense of any of the sunshine we're seeing at the moment. So it will likely be quite cloudy and wet start to next week. Because the temperatures have picked up, we're not expecting any further snow at least for the first part of the week, but into the second part of next week, there's a chance it could turn a bit colder again in northern areas that could see a bit more hill snow across Snowdonia, for example, by the end of the week, so it's still going to be a little bit changeable and it's not going to be picking up to anywhere near what we had last weekend."

When will it start to feel like summer again?

April is expected to be above average but there is a lot of uncertainty at this point. Meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said: "The forecast for April as a whole is for the temperatures to generally be above average, by the end of April as an average through the month so that means that we're likely to see any colder spells a bit shorter lived but we'll probably stay closer to our sort of 13/14/15C for now, at least.

"But as there is quite a good deal of uncertainty in the forecast weather can change quite a lot through spring as we're going into summer. It can be quite a fickle month and it can feel like we're almost at summer at some points and then you could say that you're back in winter other points but we will get there as we head towards the summer months and into may as well. "

What will the weather be like today?

Today:

The Met Office says it will be a mostly sunny morning after a chilly start. But it will turn cloudier through the afternoon with some scattered showers developing. Mostly light winds are expected, although it will turn breezier later. The maximum temperature we can expect is 11 °C.

Tonight:

Thick cloud is forecast to push south across all parts through the evening with strengthening winds. Outbreaks of rain are expected to arrive during the first part of the night and continue through the early hours. Minimum temperature will be 4 °C.

Monday:

A cloudy, blustery and damp day is predicted for many. Although temperatures may be slightly higher than recent days, it will not feel it in the wind and rain. Maximum temperature we can expect is 13 °C.
