After winning the New York City mayoral election in 2025, many expected Zohran Mamdani to soften his stance on U.S. President Donald Trump, but that hasn’t happened. Since taking office, Mamdani has been tirelessly working to achieve the goals he set during his campaign. At the same time, he has remained firm on some of the values he advocated during that time, particularly his stance of criticizing Trump when he believes he is wrong. He is doing the same in a recent instance as well.
In a clip that’s going viral on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter), Zohran Mamdani, while speaking to Al Jazeera, expresses his disappointment over the United States waging war on Iran and everything that has followed. Additionally, he highlights some relevant points regarding the event, which has been a topic of discussion among Americans for some time, including but not limited to the enormous amounts of money the U.S. is spending to sustain the war in Iran, money that could have been better invested in the American economy to address numerous issues.
Zohran Mamdani condemns Trump’s pro-foreign war stance
Several actions taken by Donald Trump since he began his second term as U.S. president last year have drawn strong criticism from the American public. For example, his crackdown on immigrants, his failure to prioritize healthcare, and his inability to deliver justice in the Jeffrey Epstein case. While these issues and others have caused some of his most loyal supporters to distance themselves, it is his recent decision to wage war with Iran and continue fighting while incurring billions in losses to the American economy that has most of his followers stepping back and seeing things more clearly, without their rose-tinted glasses.
While Mayor Zohran Mamdani is not among Donald Trump’s followers, when it comes to Iran, he shares a similar opinion. Like them, he believes the war is unnecessary and shouldn’t be a top priority for America when there is so much more work to do domestically. In the Al Jazeera interview mentioned earlier, Mamdani discusses how deeply unpopular the US’s war is among Americans and states that the billions spent on it could be better used to resolve American issues. Making a bold statement, Mamdani said that it should “frustrate” everyone in America that so much money is being spent on fighting a foreign war instead of fixing domestic problems. Quoting Tupac Shakur, he added, “We always seem to have money for war, but not to feed the poor.”
In other news, Donald Trump got heavily booed at a UFC game
On Saturday, while JD Vance was negotiating with Iran to reach a peace deal, Donald Trump and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio were enjoying a UFC event in Miami. While the incident itself is ridiculous enough, it is what happened when Trump was entering the event that has caught people’s attention online. In clips shared on social media, especially X , you can see that as Trump makes his entrance, surrounded by security and several others, to the sound of drums and other instruments, with loud music playing in the background, many people in the front row are standing up, cheering for him, and taking his photograph. However, that is not what is drawing the most attention.
What is catching people’s attention online is the heavy booing from the crowd during his entrance, which is mostly drowned out by loud music. Some believe the music was intentionally played at such a high volume to hide this, but despite their efforts, people have figured out what was really happening.
