Wayne Rooney posts snap of himself 'as a fan' ahead of England game

Wayne Rooney has shared an adorable snap of himself and his family "as fans" ahead of tonight's England game.

The national team will take on USA in the World Cup from 7pm on Friday. Ahead of the match, Wayne shared a photo of himself with wife Coleen, and sons Kai, Klay, Cass, Kit at last year's Euros.

A second picture showed his sons smiling for a photo with England captain Harry Kane. The snaps were taken as England took on Croatia last June.

Captioning the post on Instagram, Wayne said: "My favourite memory from @england’s last big tournament. Watching as a fan with my family. Good luck to @harrykane and the lads tonight. Come on England".

The England team's official account commented an applause and a heart emoji on the post. Hundreds of Wayne's fans have also wished him well.

Julian said: "Rooney is the best player of all time just saying". @the_bully_pound said: "Must feel good watching as a fan instead of carrying a whole country on your back. Legend".

Niyas said: "Legends family", while Eddie said: "The goat". Damian said: "Great picture Waz, come on England".

The post comes after Rooney said he believes the USA has a chance to shock England, after seeing how both teams have performed so far. He told the Times the USA were "excellent" in their first half against Wales earlier this week.
