WAU is an acronym for We Are Universal, but the literature that comes with the bike plays more on the We Are Underdogs vibe. This seems genuinely reflective of the background and structure of this start-up British brand, which began with a husband and wife sitting around a table sketching a dream bike and mapping out a vision and then grew organically into what it is now – a small but committed design and production team of highly invested individuals. It’s about as far removed from the behemoth brands of the bicycling world, such as Specialized, as it’s possible to be.
