Waterloo Road casts ex-Emmerdale star Adam Thomas' real life son in BBC show

Former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas' son Teddy will join the ever growing cast of Waterloo Road.

Teddy will play the role of Tommy Charles, the son of Adam’s character, Donte.

And they're certainly keeping it in the family as Adam’s niece, Scarlett Thomas, Coronation Street’s Ryan Thomas and Tina O’Brien's daughter, will play Tommy’s sister and Donte and Chlo’s daughter - Izzy.

Teddy auditioned for the part but was initially but was beaten to the role by another child, however, a source told The Sun that the original Tommy Charles had to pull out of the show, which meant Teddy bagged the gig.

The former Adam Barton actor is said to be thrilled to be working alongside his son on his first proper job.

It was confirmed earlier this year that Adam Thomas would return to the BBC school based drama alongside original cast members Angela Griffin and Katie Griffiths.

Adam, 33, who played a pupil in the original series is revising his role as Donte Charles while Angela is back as Kim Campbell, now headteacher, with Katie set to return as Chlo Charles.

Many Emmerdale fans have been hoping he’d return to the ITV soap in recent years but instead he’s heading back to school with Waterloo Road.

Waterloo Road has already began filming and is set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later this year.
