Waterford backroom staff member sent off after appearing to strike Limerick's Gearoid Hegarty

Waterford Limerick Munster Hurling Championship Thurles

A member of Waterford's backroom team was sent off on Sunday afternoon after appearing to strike Limerick's Gearoid Hegarty.

The incident happened during a fiery Munster Hurling Championship clash in Thurles as Limerick ran out winners by 1-18 to 0-19.

The staff member appeared to connect with Hegarty on the side of the pitch, with the Limerick man being sent off for a second bookable offence moments later before the referee sent the man to the stand.
