Water Near Sydney Harbour Turned Blood-Red In Yet Another Sign The End Of The World Is Nigh

People strolling past the Sydney Harbour water at a cove near Kirribilli were given a fright on Monday morning when the ocean’s blue tones had turned to a much more sinister blood-red. Even spookier is the fact that experts are still investigating why the colour change happened.

It was a bright morning in the North Sydney suburb of Milson Park, and while all seemed normal with the world, locals suddenly discovered that one thing was anything but normal.

The water at Careening Cove, a bay that flows into the Sydney Harbour, had bafflingly turned red.

No, this isn’t metaphorical language, or doomsday fear-mongering. It had literally turned red. Peep the pic.

In response to the frightening red-shift, North Sydney Council eased fears by saying the water had been reported to the respective authorities.

“Council is aware of the red water flowing into the harbour from Milson Park, and officers have investigated but have not been able to find the source,” read a council statement.

“We have reported it to the EPA.”

While the council was not immediately certain of the cause for the red water, it did provide one explanation: plumbers’ dye.

“The cause of the colour is likely to be plumbers’ dye which, while alarming in appearance, is safe and non-toxic,” said the council.

Turns out this isn’t the first time this particular patch of water has suddenly changed colour.

Back in September, locals were shocked to discover that the water had turned to a bright neon green.

In the recent instance, it is suspected that plumbers’ dye had leaked out into the water, resulting in the “unusual” hue. A source of the leak is yet to be found though.

“North Sydney Council alerted us to red plumbers’ dye in a drain at Kirribilli this afternoon and we are currently investigating the potential source,” said the council on Monday.

Now look, I understand experts saying the most likely cause for this ominous colour shift was the result of more plumbers’ dye.

However, I think there’s a much more logical explanation for why water would suddenly turn wine-red.

Sure, it would be pretty surprising for Jesus to turn a patch of water in Sydney Harbour into wine.

But, just like it says in the good book: the Lord works in mysterious bays.
