Popular video sharing platform TikTok has been fined £12.7m for “misusing children’s data” and allowing underage children on the app. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has found that up to 1.4 million kids under 13 were using the platform in 2020, which was against its terms of service.

The watchdog originally said it was potentially going to fine TikTok £27 million for the breaches which has now been cut by over half.
