NEW DELHI: India star pacer Mohammed Shami made a triumphant return to the side in the ICC World Cup 2023 as he claimed a wicket off his first delivery in the mega event.
Introduced into the attack in the ninth over, Shami, who wasn't part of the playing eleven in the first four matches of the World Cup, dismissed New Zealand batsman Will Young to claim a wicket off the first delivery.
The experienced pacer bowled a short-of-a-length delivery just outside off-stump. Young, who looked settled at the crease, tried to play towards the off side, got an inside edge and the ball rattled the stumps.
