The Senegal team had fashioned the best early chance but that was saved by England keeper Jordan Pickford.
But England went more direct and the groans soon turned to wild celebrations.
Video captured the crowd reaction as Jordan Henderson swept home the opener after City's star Phil Foden had cut the ball back on 38 minutes.
The footage shows jubilant fans jumping, cheering and surging forwards towards a security barrier in front of the big screen.
As the game ticked towards half-time, England struck again: this time Harry Kane picked up a through ball from Jude Bellingham and hammered the ball past the Senegal keeper in the third minute of first half injury time.
Cue a repeat of the wild celebrations of just a few minutes earlier. Some fans threw beer into the air and others danced with delight on tables.
Then, moments after the re-start Phil Foden was at it again, squaring for Bukayo Saka to bag England's third.
The quick-fire salvo had England fans dreaming of a World Cup quarter-final clash with France on Saturday.
