WATCH: Texas A&M RB Devon Achane runs 4.32 at NFL combine

College football became familiar with the speed of Texas A&M running back Devon Achane throughout the season.

The Missouri City Thurgood Marshall High School product told reporters March 4 that he wouldn’t be disappointed if he failed to break the combine speed record as he had to keep his head clear.

I won’t be disappointed not breaking the record,” said Achane. “I still got drills to do. So, I’ll be up the whole time.”

Achane managed to beat the 40-time of one of his favorite running backs in the San Francisco 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey, who ran a 4.48 in 2017.

I feel like I can do what he do,” Achane said. “I can run the ball. I can catch. I wasn’t training with any NFL players, but I was training with other prospects this year though.”

Achane generated 1,102 yards and eight touchdowns on 196 carries while catching 36 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns through 10 games, all of which he started.

The Houston Texans did not meet with Achane at the NFL combine.
