Watch Steven Gerrard's Saudi training pitch communication breakdown

Steven Gerrard is getting down to work after becoming the new manager of Al-Ettifaq.

The former Rangers boss last week accepted an offer to become the boss of the Saudi Pro League side, after initially declining their approach.

The ex-England and Liverpool captain had been out of work since he was sacked by Aston Villa last October following a dismal run of form in the Premier League.

Now, he's back on the training pitch, trying to get acclimatised to the new role and squad during pre-season.

However, it seems that there are a few teething issues, if this video widely shared online is anything to go by.

Gerrard could be seen growing frustrated at some communication issues between himself and his players.

In the clip, after placing the ball on the deck, looking to pass it on, he said: "Who wants it? Who wants it? Do you want it? Tell me then, tell me then."

After a pause of around two seconds, Gerrard picked the ball up, before instructing: "Drop. Orange ball, orange ball. No communication."

Gerrard became the latest big name to join the football revolution in the Middle East last week.

He followed the likes of Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante, and ex-Celtic star Jota to Saudi Arabia.

Today, it's been reported that he's closing in on his first marquee signing at Al-Ettifaq.

It's claimed the former Rangers boss could land Liverpool captain Henderson as his first signing at the Saudi club.

Henderson, 33, has two years left on his Anfield deal but it's thought wages up to quadruple the amount he receives at Liverpool are on the table.

Reports have suggested a deal could exceed £500,000 per week for Henderson with an initial two-year contract with the option of a third.
