Watch: Shreyas Iyer's superb diving catch in World Cup match against New Zealand

NEW DELHI: It won't be an understatement to say that the fielding standards of the Indian cricket team have gone up significantly.

And with the best fielder's medal being presented after every match, Indian cricketers have an added incentive to go full throttle for dives and diving catches.

Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul have won the medal for taking superb catches in previous matches.

And on Sunday in the World Cup match against New Zealand in Dharamsala, Shreyas Iyer became one of the contenders for the medal.

Mohammed Siraj justified his captain Rohit Sharma's decision to ask New Zealand to bat first by dismissing Devon Conway in his second over, the fourth of the match, and that too for a duck.

Siraj pitched a delivery up on the pads of Conway who played a glance towards mid-wicket where Shreyas Iyer dived to his right parallel to the ground to take a sharp catch, much to the delight of Siraj and rest of the Indians.

An ecstatic Shreyas Iyer even gestured towards the fielding coach asking for the medal for the best catch on this game.
