Watch: Shardul Thakur sizzles with maiden ton in Ranji Trophy semi-final against Tamil Nadu

NEW DELHI: All-rounder Shardul Thakur on Sunday notched up his first-ever first-class ton on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Tamil Nadu in Mumbai.

The all-rounder smoked a dazzling 89-ball century as he helped Mumbai take control on the second day of the knock-out game.

With his side reeling at 106 for 7, Shardul came in at no.9 slot and went hammer and tongs against the Tamil Nadu bowlers. On his way to belligerent 105-ball 109, Shardul clobbered 13 fours and 4 sixes as he bailed his side out of troubled waters singlehandedly.

With a maximum off left-arm spinner Ajith Ram over long-off, Shardul reached his century and celebrated with a fist pump in the air while being applauded by his teammates.

Stitching two crucial partnerships with Hardik Tamore and Tanush Kotian, Shardul put Mumbai in pole position in the semi-final against Tamil Nadu.

Kuldeep Sen eventually ended Shardul's blitz on 109 in the 86th over of the innings.

Earlier, an all-round bowling effort helped Mumbai bowl out Tamil Nadu for a lowly 146 in their first innings.

Shardul bagged a couple of wickets as Tushar Deshpande (3/26) highlighted Mumbai's bowling show on the opening day.
