Romeo Beckham proved he’s a chip off the old block as he channelled dad David with a stunning free-kick.
The second eldest son of the former Manchester United star and England captain, Beckham Jnr was playing for Inter Miami II - the second string side of the MLS franchise owned by his father.Leading Orlando City 201, Beckham lined up a set-piece nearly 30 yards out.
He stepped up and bent the ball over the wall and into the bottom left-hand corner, leaving the ‘keeper helpless and give Miami a 3-1 lead. Beckham had earlier provided the assist for Shanyder Borgelin to put them ahead after Orlando had taken an early lead through Moises Tablante. But Miami hit back through Shaan Hundal’s 70th minute spot-kick.
Beckham is yet to make his senior debut for the Florida based outfit. Miami II play in the MLS Next Pro, which was set up this year and consists of the 20 MLS reserve team and the independent Rochester New York FC.
Beckham Snr shared an emotional well done message with his second born on Instagram after full-time. He posted: “Well done mate so proud. First goal in a MIAMI shirt. Romeo replied: “Love you dad, that was for you.”
Beckham is regarded as one of the best set piece takers ever, regularly finding the net during a career that saw him turn out for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC and Paris-SG. It seems all the practice in the back garden paid off for Romeo as well.
