Speaking at the demonstration, MP Zarah Sultana said: “We cannot continue acting as the poodle of the United States.”
The protest was backed by several organisations, including the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), Stop the War Coalition and Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
This follows a decision by Sir Keir Starmer on Sunday, which permitted UK bases, including the joint UK-US Diego Garcia site in the Chagos Islands and RAF Fairford, to be used for US defensive strikes targeting countries threatened by Tehran.
