Matthew Stafford threw a red zone interception on the Rams’ second possession, getting picked in the end zone by Jimmie Ward. But after the play, Fred Warner laid a dirty hit on the Rams quarterback, which officials missed.
Stafford was way behind the return, and Warner took that as a chance to hit him in the back of the head with his helmet, sending Stafford to the turf. No flag was thrown, which could’ve brought the return back 15 yards. It also could’ve been grounds for Warner being ejected.
Here’s a look at the hit in question, which was undoubtedly late and unnecessary.
