Watch MSU beat reporter, columnist break down Spartans’ loss vs. Michigan

Michigan State outplayed the Wolverines in the box score but came up short on the scoreboard.

The Spartans outplayed Michigan in nearly every stat but ultimately didn’t make the winning play late in the game, falling 24-17. Michigan State drove down the field late in the game with a chance to tie it up, but didn’t convert on 4th down.

Michigan State has now lost three straight against their in-state rival. That is the longest losing skid in the rivalry for the Spartans since 2007.

With the loss, Michigan State is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in Big Ten play. Next up, Michigan State will host undefeated Indiana next week. However, before we turn our focus to the Hoosiers, let’s hear what Detroit Free Press beat reporter Chris Solari and Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch had to say about Michigan State’s loss vs. Michigan.
