Watch as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris mark 23 years since the September 11 attacks at a commemorative ceremony in New York City on Wednesday.

The president and vice president will visit each of the three sites where hijacked planes crashed in 2001, killing almost 3,000 people.

They will first visit the site where planes brought down the World Trade Center’s twin towers.

Biden and Harris will then fly to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where passengers on United Flight 93 overcame hijackers and the plane crashed in a field, preventing another target from being hit.

They will then go back to the Washington area to visit the Pentagon memorial.

According to his campaign, Donald Trump will also attend ceremonies in New York and visit Shanksville.

“We can only imagine the heartbreak and the pain that the 9/11 families and survivors have felt every day for the past 23 years and we will always remember and honour those who were stolen from us way too soon,” White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday.

“We will continue to do everything in our power to ensure that an attack like this never happens again,” she added.
