Watch: India stars Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur react to record-breaking WPL deals

NEW DELHI: 'A big moment for women's cricket,' said an overjoyed India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana as she became the costliest buy at the inaugural Women's Premier League auction in Mumbai on Monday.

The Indian women stars laughed their way to the banks as the franchises went out a shopping spree at the first-ever WPL auction.

The Indian players, as expected were high on demand list of the franchises and the owners without any hesitation shelled out millions for the services of exceptional domestic talents.

Mandhana led the way with the record signing of Rs 3.4 crore and expressed her happiness on being part of the Bangalore franchise, which she said has an 'incredible legacy and fan base.'

Team India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur too shared her excitement on becoming a part of the Mumbai Indians team and termed WPL as game-changing in women's cricket.
