They say dog is a man's best friend....but apparently not when you're chasing the game in the sixth tier of Scottish football.
It might be Darvel making all the headlines at the top of the West of Scotland Premier Division but a big clash between Hurlford and Pollok was derailed when a punter's dog charged onto the pitch during the Ayrshire side's 4-0 defeat. Pollok, who had led the way early on in the season, ran riot on the west coast and they were 2-0 up and cruising when a canine pitch invader briefly brought the game to a halt.
The moment of controversy came as Hurlford took corner in the Ayrshire wind. The pooch watched the home side hit the post before taking its chance to grab the spotlight, racing onto the pitch and charging down the ball with all the tenacity of Andy Robertson at his best. It takes a few seconds for the chaos to set in but the hilarious footage captured by Pollok's highlights capture one punter roaring "Haw! Get this f****** dug to hell!" before the referee blows his whistle to stop play.
Pollok hilariously released 'the ruff cut' of their highlights, which can be viewed here with the incident itself taking place around the 2.35 mark. You can view the eight seconds of madness itself in the player above.
