Michigan State basketball welcomed in Samford for a matchup against the back to back SoCon champs. The Bulldogs gave the Spartans all they can handle, and then some.
In the end, MSU was able to hold off Samford, defeating the Bulldogs 83-75, behind career high efforts from Jaden Akins (25 points), Jase Richardson (12 points) and an MSU high from Szymon Zapala (10 points).

Michigan State will be back in action next Monday in the Maui Invitational against Colorado.
