Some of Greater Manchester's leading health experts have given their insights into the current pressures facing the NHS across our region.
This comes as the Manchester Evening News reports that hundreds of people have been left waiting for ambulances across the North West over recent days. This led to the head of the North West Ambulance Service making a desperate plea for the public to only call 999 in the event of a life-threatening emergency on Monday night.
The Chief Medical Officer for the Northern Care Alliance, Dr Chris Brookes, the Chief Medical Officer of the NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board, Dr Manisha Kumar, the Director of Pharmacy Transformation at the Greater Manchester Local Pharmaceutical Committee, Luvjit Kandula, and the Chair of Greater Manchester Local Dental Network, Mohsan Ahmad, spoke to our health reporter Helena Vesty yesterday (December 13), describing the current situation in the NHS across our region. They explained that there are a number of factors as to why the NHS is under particular pressure at the moment, leading to pleas such as the one made by the head of NWAS Dr Chris Grant.
They spoke at length about the pressures facing each one of their groups and asked questions sent in by readers during the Facebook Live video. You can watch the full video above.
