An Australian government official giggled his way through a press briefing outside Parliament in which he revealed last week's train station flooding that caused extreme delays as thousands left a concert was caused by an "amorous couple" with a bad idea.
Last week, two train stations in Melbourne were evacuated after a triggered sprinkler system caused extensive flooding, which led to substantial delays as thousands of people left an Olivia Rodrigo concert.
On Wednesday, the Victorian Transport Infrastructure Minister Danny Pearson said CCTV footage proved the incident wasn't triggered by vandals but rather an aroused couple caught in a stairwell at the Melbourne Central train station.
"It would appear that an amorous couple in a stairwell dislodged a sprinkler," Pearson told reporters. "Perhaps a stairwell may not be an appropriate place to find yourself in after dinner," he added.
Pearson added that Metro and law enforcement are looking into the "criminal damage" case. Victorian police also released photos of the couple in hopes they can assist them with their ongoing investigation.
