Watch: Giorgos Giakoumakis scores phenomenal chip for Atlanta United

Ex-Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis continued his blistering start to life in America, as he scored an audacious chip in Atlanta United's 4-0 win against Colorado Rapids.

The Greece international, who scored 26 goals in all competitions for Celtic from 2021-2023, has taken little time to adjust to his new surroundings, with the forward now on six goals in just nine games.

The 28-year-old scored the fourth and final goal of the night, with the goal coming in the 90th minute after being subbed on in the 53rd minute. Giakoumakis chests the ball down following an accurate cross from teammate Brooks Lennon and then proceeds to chip the Rapids goalkeeper before applying the finishing touch to fire home the goal.

Speaking after the game, Giakoumakis said: "I know it's a long time since we won the last game. We've been working hard. This is for you, this is how we bounce back. We love your support, we need you always, every single game.

"It doesn't matter if it's Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday - we need you there. We can't do it without you, thank you very much."

He will be due a Scottish Premiership winner's medal from his previous club, after appearing in 19 games for Celtic, helping them retain their title in the process after scoring some important goals during the current season.

Meanwhile, Dermot Desmond made a rare appearance at Celtic Park this week.

A photo surfaced online of the club's owner chatting to Ange Postecoglou inside Parkhead a couple of days ago.

The Hoops majority shareholder's son, Ross, was also pictured taking part in the conversation in the foyer of Celtic Park.

This has led to speculation among Hoops fans as to what the purpose of Desmond's visit was.

Some reckon Postecoglou may be ready to commit to a new long-term contract at the club.

There has been plenty of interest from the Premier League in the Australian, and that is only going to grow with the further success he will likely bring to Celtic.

Then there is the small matter of summer transfer improvements to be funded - with Postecoglou vowing to sign quality additions to make Celtic stronger for another tilt at the Champions League.
