Saquon Barkley is the great-nephew of former middleweight champion Iran Barkley, so it should be no surprise that he’s a natural in the gym and a huge boxing fan.
Now Philadelphia royalty after signing a three-year deal with the Eagles, the star running back popped up on the latest boxing prodigy from the City of Brotherly Love, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.
On July 13, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Ennis will face another test with his matchup against David Avanesyan (30-4-1, 18 KOs).
Ennis was finishing his final preparation for Saturday’s matchup. He welcomed Barkley into the gym for some support and to finalize plans for both elite athletes to train ahead of the Eagles reporting to camp.

Barkley has previously talked about the role boxing played in his life and how it affected his development as a football player.
His father, Alibay Barkley, and uncle, Iran, were prominent figures, and the Eagles running back has talked in length about having to throw on the gloves and box random kids as a youth.
