Watch: Cowboys Great Makes Touching Hall of Fame Request of Jerry Jones

Longtime Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio in the Pro Football Hall of Fame later this summer, and he wants Dallas owner Jerry Jones to be his presenter.

Ware broke the news to the Cowboys owner in a moment that was captured on the team’s social media accounts.

“You were the voice that welcomed me into the Hall of Fame and I want for you, I want that voice to keep going and you be my presenter this year for the Hall of Fame,” Ware said to Jones.

“I just can’t tell you what an honor it is,” Jones replied. “I mean, it’s really because it’s you. It’s more to me than being in the Hall of Fame.”

“Yes sir,” Ware replied.

“Because I know what you’re a part of and that’s how I got into the Hall of Fame just standing and rubbing up with you,” Jones said.

“You know it’s been one of those things for me, Jerry, that you’re such an important part of my career. You’re such an important part of my life, and when I got that … when I knocked on your door and I walked in and you said that to me, it was, I mean, life changing,” Ware continued.

Jones was clearly touched by the moment.

“I’m getting a chance to talk to some young guys right now that are coming into the NFL and you as a person, not the football player, but also the football player you were to your teammates … this is what I thought it might be like in heaven if you got in the NFL and I mean that. You’re a picture of it, congratulations. And thank you.”

Ware played 12 professional seasons, with the first nine coming in Dallas for the Cowboys. His illustrious career included three interceptions, 35 forced fumbles, 138.5 sacks and 657 combined tackles.

Although he never won a Super Bowl in Dallas, he did win one in 2016 with the Broncos in the twilight of his career.

The defensive end is best known for his time with the Cowboys, however, and with Jones as his presenter, Ware has cemented his career as a Cowboys legend.
