Momentum in the NFC championship has officially shifted in favor of the San Francisco 49ers.
Quickly after Brandon Aiyuk and Brock Purdy cut the Detroit Lions lead to seven points, Lions star rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs put the ball on the ground for a costly fumble. With Arik Armstead recovering the ball, the 49ers took over on the Lions’ 24 yard line.
Four plays later, Christian McCaffrey punched in his second score of the game to tie the NFC championship with a 1-yard touchdown run. McCaffrey’s second rushing score evened the game at 24 with three minutes remaining in the third quarter.
