Rookie wide receiver Chris Olave hauled in his first professional touchdown for the New Orleans Saints in his second preseason game, scoring it at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers. The 20-yard touchdown reception was just the third catch of his pro career. It came at an opportune time for the Saints as it cut the lead down to 13-10 before halftime.
Olave flashed his elite route-running skills on the play, taking advantage of the coverage assignment to outplay a linebacker defending him from the slot. He correctly read the defense to find his way into the end zone and turn back to his quarterback at the perfect moment to make a clean catch. It was also the first career touchdown pass for quarterback Ian Book, who had been struggling up to that point. Hopefully this is a good confidence-building moment for both young players.
