It appears that more pass-catchers for the Kansas City Chiefs are showing up in Texas to get some work in with Patrick Mahomes ahead of the official start of the offseason program.
Players like Justyn Ross, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore and Ihmir Smith-Marsette have already been spotted working with Mahomes down in Texas. Now, it seems that a member of the tight end room has officially joined them for some offseason work.

The 2023 NFL season figures to be a big one for Fortson, who seeks to carve out a bigger role for himself with in the Chiefs’ offense. In a recent long-form with Tyler Dunne of Go Long Football, Fortson revealed that he’s not satisfied with his current role and wants to further earn the trust of his quarterback and his coaching staff.
“I’m going to show you why your belief is right,” Fortson said. “I’m going to show you. At times, Coach Reid has shown me he trusts me a little. I feel like every time my number is called, I make a play. Hopefully, it grows. Hopefully, he gives me more trust.”
The former undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State has appeared in 19 career games with one start for the Chiefs. During that span, he’s caught 14 passes for 155 yards and four touchdowns. When he returned from injured reserve in the playoffs last season, the team opted to keep him active over veteran TE Blake Bell.
