Kansas City Chiefs rookie CB Nic Jones is wasting no time in making an impression with his new team.
During the first team period of rookie minicamp, Jones was among the defensive standouts for Kansas City. He came down with an impressive interception on an underthrown deep ball to undrafted free agent WR Nikko Remigio. Jones manages to get one hand on the ball and bat it down to himself as he’s falling backward.

Voice of the Chiefs, Mitch Holthus, even called Jones’ interception, “the best play of the day.” It was even more impressive when you consider that Remigio, the receiver Jones was covering, was tabbed as a standout in the first practice of the three-day minicamp.
Not to discredit the job done by the rookie on the play, but the quarterback play isn’t exactly top-tier. The top quarterback in attendance was practice squad QB Chris Oladokun, who was the team’s scout team quarterback last season when they faced mobile quarterbacks. That said, if there are more plays like this in the Jones’ future, the Chiefs will certainly find themselves feeling good about the seventh-round selection.
