The Philadelphia Eagles have a strong fandom throughout the country, which also flows into Hollywood. Bradley Cooper, Tina Fey, and Kevin Hart proudly support the Eagles when they’re playing. But another celebrity who bleeds green is Riverdale’s Charles Melton.
Melton, known for playing Reggie Mantle in Riverdale and Rafe in Bad Boys for Life, joined Live with Kelly and Mark Tuesday morning for press about his recent project, May December.
However, before the break, a quick question about the Eagles popped up, which Melton was eager to answer.
“My dad was stationed in Germany and the only televised games were the Cowboys [and] the Patriots. The Cowboys played the Eagles twice every year. That was when [the Eagles] had Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook, so they were really good,” Melton said.
“They went to the NFC Championship four years in a row and that’s when I fell in love with them,” he continued.
Kelly Ripa, long-time Live co-host, is also an Eagles fan, having grown up in Stratford, New Jersey, near the Philadelphia sports scene.
“Charles and I are on the same team,” Kelly said.
Melton previously played as a defensive back for Kansas State University, and the love of football stuck.
