Team USA was hoping to win back the gold medal in this year’s FIBA World Cup after a dismal showing in the last such tournament in 2019. That year, it finished seventh.
Unfortunately, there will be no real redemption this time around.
Buy Lakers TicketsOn Friday morning, the Americans suffered a stunning 113-111 loss to Germany in the semifinal round. Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Dennis Schroder was a big problem with 17 points and nine assists, plus a couple of clutch baskets late to seal Team USA’s fate.
Austin Reaves did his best to give the Americans a chance to win. He scored 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting overall and 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Eleven of those points came in the final 4:28 of the contest.
As usual, he provided a few highlights.
