Watch as West Lothian gran follows in Subo's footsteps with energetic Britain's Got Talent performance

Yet another West Lothian superstar was unveiled on Britain’s Got Talent at the weekend.

Whitburn gran Joy Weir followed in the footsteps of local hero Susan Boyle when she took to the stage on the hit show.

And she impressed judge David Walliams so much with her dancing to ‘Bits ‘n’ Pieces’ that he joined her on stage and even whipped his shirt off!

But the 77-year-old failed to sway Simon Cowell, who hit the red buzzer within minutes of her act - despite the audience getting right behind her with some raucous cheering.

Joy’s energetic dancing paid off as they other judges paved her way through to the next round after cheeky Walliams sent her on her way with a kiss on her hand.

Joy told the judges she stayed not far from Susan Boyle, and that she travelled to audition with her two granddaughters, adding she has astonishing 21 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren in total.
She said: “Hello my name is Joy Weir and I’m from a town called Whitburn, West Lothian and in fact I’m about two miles from where Susan Boyle stays.”

Alisha Dixon asked Joy what made her audition for the show and Joy said it was her grandkids’ idea, adding: “It was my grandkids, so I’ve got to do it for them haven’t I?”

Joy then took centre stage and when the 77-year-old’s music began to play, the tune was Beauty and The Beast’s A Tale As Old As Time, but then it quickly changed to Scooter’s The Logical Song, before then changing to Scots classic Bits ‘N’ Pieces.

You can keep up with Joy’s progress on Britain’s Got Talent and watch each episode so far on the ITV hub.
