Sunderland fans have every right to celebrate late into the evening following their 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers and promotion to the Championship. Goals either side of half-time from Elliott Embleton and Ross Stewart sealed an outstanding victory to end a six-game play-off hoodoo and end a four-year stay in the English third-tier.
Fans were out in force on Friday night, taking over Trafalgar Square in London with a sea of red and white - no doubt many more will return to the streets of the capital to celebrate a long-awaited play-off win.
The Players stayed on the pitch to soak up the atmosphere after the win, and not one seat in the red and white end had emptied. All too often that end has been one of devastation, but this year - for the first time in seven play-ff attempts - there were scenes of joy.

And ex-Sunderland player Micky Gray was full of emotion after seeing his former side finally win a play-off final, saying that he 'didn't think it was ever going to happen'.
No doubt those at Wembley will flock back to Trafalgar Square again tonight for more celebrations - and there may be a few players joining them.
