Watch as Hearts' Lawrence Shankland attempts to put off Celtic penalty taker

Lawrence Shankland was at the centre of two penalty incidents as Heart of Midlothian suffered a 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead on Saturday.

Goals from new signings Arne Engels and Luke McCowan secured the win for the Hoops, who maintained their perfect start to the season with five wins and no goals conceded.

Hearts remain at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership with just one point from five matches.

The match could have taken a different turn had a first-half penalty been awarded to Hearts.

Referee Colin Steven initially pointed to the spot after Liam Scales allegedly handled Shankland's header, but VAR overturned the decision upon review.

The second half saw another penalty given, this time when James Penrice's arm was deemed to have handled a cross from Nicolas Kuhn.

It was initially just a corner but VAR intervened and changed the outcome.

Despite Hearts' protests, the penalty stood, and Engels, Celtic's record signing from FC Augsburg, made no mistake by converting from 12-yards out.

In an attempt to distract Engels, Shankland was seen shouting from the edge of the box, urging him to feel the pressure.

Another voice from the Jambos' camp mockingly questioned Engels' £11 million price tag as he prepared to take the kick.
