Watch as Edinburgh Lothian bus collides with industrial bin after driver doesn't stop

A video shared with Edinburgh Live appears to show a David vs Goliath style battle between a 27 Lothian Bus and industrial bin on Gilmore Place

The video was captured by David Beaumont who got his phone out to film when he realised that the bus was not stopping for the bin.

In the footage, the number 27 that is headed to Silverknowes can be seen driving into an industrial sized bin for general waste as it approaches a set of traffic lights.

At first there is a feeling that the driver surely has noticed some friction down the left hand side of the vehicle but to David’s amazement the driver just kept going.

The bus then forces the bin into the kerbside where it eventually flips. But in the process of flipping it tears the back of the bus by the rear left wheel.

Shortly after this the driver can be seen exiting the vehicle to assess the damage and what exactly it was that was obstructing them.

The incident is understood to have taken place on Gilmore Place at around 5:30pm on Tuesday evening.

David who captured the video said: “It happened at the bus stop at Lochrin Buildings. I honestly thought the bus driver would notice his mistake as it was a huge bin. But it’s just funny as at no point was anyone in real danger.”

Lothian buses were contacted for comment relating to the incident.
