WATCH: Archie Griffin reveals the record he’s most proud of from his career at Ohio State

If you were trying to identify a face of the Ohio State football program from a historical perspective, there’s a certain two-time Heisman winner that would be on the shortlist of shortlists. That, of course, is former running back Archie Griffin who is still around today as an all-time ambassador for OSU.

The accolades were plenty. Besides the two bronze statues, Griffin’s teams did a lot of winning on the field as well, with four Big Ten titles, four Rose Bowls, and a 40-5-1 overall record during that time.

If you know anything about the Columbus native, it’s that he’s a team guy who is quick to direct praise from himself to others, and that’s exactly what he did when appearing in an interview with the Big Ten Network over the weekend.

With all of those records, stats, and awards, many might wonder what Griffin is the proudest of. Good thing then that Dave Revsine asked the Buckeye great that very question. Turns out, he’s most proud of his 31-straight 100-yard rushing games, but not for the reason you’d think. Griffin mentioned it’s a model of consistency, but he’s more proud of it because it speaks volumes for how talented the guys blocking for him were during that time.

Yep. There’s no surprise there. Always the gentlemen, and always humble and caring, there aren’t too many others as kind and thoughtful as the only guy to ever win the most prestigious individual award in all of sports.
