Georgia Bulldogs right tackle Amarius Mims has made a big difference for Georgia’s offensive line since returning from an ankle injury. Mims and right guard Tate Ratledge delivered a devastating block on a Tennessee defender against the Volunteers.
Mims and Ratledge are a big reason why Carson Beck rarely gets pressured or sacked. Mims detailed the play where he and Ratledge combined to demolish a Tennessee pass rusher.
Oh man, so I just remember it was a pass play. The coaches were talking about this week, “Their end guys are good. They’re fast. They jump the field.” So, I tried to take a good vertical set, tried to get them to come under, and I had Tate’s help. So, I saw him go up under, tried to catch him with my left hand, and I caught him. And then Tate finished him that’s all.
Here’s a look at Mims and Ratledge’s big block:

Amarius Mims is projected to be a first round pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Tate Ratledge later exited the Tennessee game with a knee injury. Ratledge’s injury is not severe and there’s a chance he could play against Georgia Tech.
Kirby Smart updated Tate Ratledge’s status after Tuesday’s practice.
Tate is much better, moving and running but didn’t take reps.
If Ratledge can’t go against Georgia Tech, then there’s still optimism he could return against Alabama in the SEC championship game.
