The performance by Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. last Saturday could be called a “Heisman-defining” moment, but considering he puts up video game-type numbers every week, it’s hard not to show love to the full scope of his work. But the game against Oregon was certainly the biggest test Penix and the Huskies have faced this year.
This is why when Washington was behind 33–29 with roughly 3:30 remaining and Oregon in possession during the fourth quarter, a clip of Penix on the sideline quickly picked up steam. The Heisman favorite wasn’t stressing, but instead, it appeared that he was actually rapping on the sidelines.
Fortunately, Washington wide receiver Jalen McMillan took this clip to a different stratosphere to package under the elite moments of 2023, by confirming the quarterback was indeed rapping—freestyling about the comeback they were going to make against the Ducks.
bro literally was freestyling about us making the comeback..9 is insane yall https://t.co/CPvtmpVOJN

That began an incredible run of events for Penix and the Huskies. A few plays later things quickly shifted, with Oregon failing to convert a fourth-and-3 from Washington’s 47-yard line. Just two plays later, Penix threw for his fourth touchdown of the game, and one that secured a 36–33 win after he apparently called his shot just moments before.
Penix finished the matchup while completing 22-of-37 passes for 302 yards, four touchdowns and one interception while the Huskies moved to 6–0 on the season.
