About 250,000 low-income adults in Washington could lose Medicaid coverage and become uninsured after federal work requirements take effect in January, according to state health insurance administrators. The figure is an estimate, not a count, and it comes as more than 600,000 Apple Health enrollees prepare for new reporting rules.
The estimate was reported Oct. 20 by KUOW, Seattle's public radio station. State officials said many people at risk already work or qualify for an exemption but may struggle to keep proving it every six months.
