Was Rosamund Pike right to call out a theatre-goer for using their phone?

Rosamund Pike sparked debate after she called out an audience member for texting during a performance of Inter Alia in the West End.

Delivering a lecture in theatre etiquette, the actor halted production as she said: “You know who you are and I’m not going to single you out.

“Maybe it was very important, and maybe you’re a doctor, and you’re saving someone's life, and I hope you are, but we do see these, we do feel them.”

Was she justified in her actions? And whose responsibility is it to ensure appropriate behaviour is upheld? The Independent headed to London’s West End to find out what theatre-goers really think.
