Warzone Season 4 Reloaded: start time, Vondel map in Battle Royale and The Boys crossover

The next big Call of Duty: Warzone content update is almost upon us, with Season 4 Reloaded dropping this week.

Season 4 of Warzone 2 (or just 'Warzone' following the apparent rebrand of Call of Duty Battle Royale) is getting its scheduled mid-season update with the impending release of Season 4 Reloaded. Following the launch of the new Vondel map for the Resurgence mode, Activision's answer to Fortnite has had a much-needed boost to its popularity among players, and things are looking to get even better with the opening up of Vondel to Battle Royale mode.

There's also an upcoming The Boys crossover, a new gulag and more that players can look forward to in the new mid-season update. Here's when the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 Reloaded update drops and what we can expect to see, with everything you need to know picked out from the official blog post.

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded: start time

The Warzone Season 4 Reloaded start time is set for 5pm BST / 12pm EDT / 9am PDT on Wednesday, July 12 with the update launching simultaneously worldwide across all platforms.

Players on PS5 and PS4 are often able to preload Warzone updates prior to them going live, while players on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S will likely have to wait until 5pm BST / 12pm EDT / 9am PDT on the dot to access the update. Once the download is complete, you'll be able to jump straight in to Warzone Season 4 Reloaded.

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded: The Boys skins and Field Upgrade

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded is getting a crossover with TV show The Boys, with Homelander, Starlight and Black Noir being added to the game as playable character skins. But it's not just skins coming in the collab, oh no

The Boys Warzone crossover will also introduce a new Field Upgrade called Temp V, which will grant players with one of four random superpowers (yes, honestly) including Charge Jump, Electric Shockwave, Laser Vision and Teleport. Unlike standard Field Upgrades, the Warzone Temp V Field Upgrade can be activated whenever you like after you've used it once. But if you're taken out before you've had the chance to use it, then you'll lose it when you die - just like a normal Warzone Field Upgrade.

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded: Vondel map in Battle Royale

Vondel debuted in Warzone as a Resurgence map as per the Season 4 roadmap and is doing a fine job of filling the Verdansk-shaped hole in our hearts. It's doing so well, in fact, that with the Season 4 Reloaded update you can play in a Vondel Battle Royale match. As is par for the course with the BR mode, the map supports 72-players and at launch, there'll be dedicated Quads, Trios, Duos, and Solos Playlists.

The addition is a pretty big shakeup for Warzone which has only ever supported one single, large Battle Royale map at any one time, alongside the smaller Resurgence maps. Vondel will join Al-Mazrah as a second Warzone Battle Royale map, which is a wise choice given it's warm reception from the community.

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded: Gulag

Vondel is the map that keeps on giving, apparently, with a dedicated Gulag on the map coming our way when Warzone Season 4 Reloaded goes live. Activision describes it as "a three-lane map designed for 1v1 combat."

You'll find a circular structure at the centre with an opening facing two main spawn points, so the action will "naturally funnel" into this area, particularly during overtime.

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded: playlist map rotation

In terms of Warzone maps, we've got the Al-Mazrah Battle Royale map, which will be joined by Vondel BR, two Resurgence maps – Ashika Island, and Vondel – as well as some DMZ locations. That's a lot going on, so Activision is rolling out a map rotation system is coming in Warzone Season 4 Reloaded.

The Rotating Resurgence Playlists will be applicable for Warzone Resurgence only, switching from Vondel to Ashika Island after a certain period of time in-game, and back again.

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded: everything else

Elsewhere, The Occupation Scan in-match event is coming to Vondel. If you don't want to be scanned and marked you need to go prone or dive underwater when it's in effect.

The Signals Intelligence Contract, previously appearing in DMZ is set to feature in Vondel Battle Royale and Resurgence game modes. As in DMZ, you need to hack three phone contract phones, but it's been tweaked for the two modes so you're on the clock.

Vondel is getting a Field Upgrade specific to the map with a Portable Redeploy Drone (P.R.D.). Unlike Personal Redeploy Drones, these PRDs can only be used by a single Operator. And instead of using cables attached to a drone, an Operator needs to hangs onto the drone itself to fly high into the air.

And finally, DMZ players are new options for Plea for Help and new mechanics for Assimilation. Squads specifically hunting other Players may find themselves the target of a new Hunt Contract. Activision promises more details when the Warzone Season 4 Reloaded patch notes drop on July 12.
